Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary:  Our Staff

Steve Estrada

Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary Owner/Manager

Steve was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico and is one of seven children.
He is married to Renee Estrada, a radiation therapist at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.

In 1976, at age 17, Steve began his career at Hamilton Funeral Home in New Mexico.  He realized his passion for community service and went on to attend New Mexico State University and the College of Mortuary Science in San Francisco, CA .

Prior to coming to Lake County in May of 2003, Steve managed several leading Bay Area mortuaries including:  Skylawn, Chapel of the Chimes, and Sunset View.  He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Hayward, CA, and currently volunteers with many of our local community service organizations.  Steve is a past president of the Early Lake Lions Club and current president of the Lake County Rodeo Association.

He is extremely dedicated to our community.

Steve and Renee purchased Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary after the death of
Larry Lucier who started the business in 1977.  They are honored to carry on the professional and personal service to the families of Lake County that only a local
and family owned funeral home can do.

Steve is also a Scott's Valley Farmer.  He raises pumpkins for the kids at Halloween, has Christmas trees freshly cut from Renee's father's tree farm in Washington, and of course Scott's Valley Hay.

Judy Holden

Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary Office Manager

Judy moved to Lakeport in 1974, where she raised her 4 girls and now enjoys time with her 8 grandchildren. She is the former owner/operator of the Water Wheel Restaurant and former manager of the Brick Grill in Kelseyville.

Judy is also a member of the Lakeport Elks Lodge 2704.

She enjoys people, listening and helping with their special needs.  Judy truly cares about every family that we serve.

Lynda Mathews

Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary Arrangement Counselor,
   Advance Planning and

   Lake County Monument

Lynda came to Lake County in 1965.  Before coming to work at Chapel of the Lakes, in 2001, she managed optometry offices in Lake County for 20 years working with
Doctors Laskey, Bacon and Buehnerkemper.

She never imagined working in a funeral home, but previous Lake County funeral home owners Dick Lewis and Carol Boyette convinced her that families would appreciate her sincerity and compassion.

Lynda is an Arrangement Counselor - her goal is to make your loved ones service personal and the best that it can be.  She does our Memorial DVD's and all of our Pre-Arrangements or Advance Planning, as well.  She feels honored to be helpful to families during one of the most difficult times of their lives.

John Miles

Family Support, Mortuary Support Team Leader

John has been a member of our staff since 2008, and is happy to be back in California after living 30 years in the state of Washington.  As a young man, John spent many summers in Lake County and grew to love the area. It was his hope to live here some day.

Prior to moving to Washington, John worked at Lafferty and Smith Colonial Chapel in Santa Rosa, California.  He is honored to serve this community and committed to assisting families in their time of need.
